This video covers the Extended-Focused Assessment in Trauma (E-FAST Exam) ultrasound exam. This rapid ultrasound exam is used in the emergency room in the setting of trauma to assess patients for free fluid in the abdomen and for a pneumothorax. Experienced operators can complete this exam within several minutes and accurately triage patients to go directly to the operating room, have a chest tube placed, or go for further imaging in the CT scanner.
