The operation was done in oct 2016 at King College, London under Mr Barkas.
Two years on I'm in more pain and less able to do what I did prior to the operation, I feel movement in the lower spine which can be heard as a ratcheting or clunking as it returns to its correct position usually when laying on my back on a flat surface, its loud enough that even my wife can hear it. I have been back to Kings for reassessment of the fusion which has previously been said to be 'fully fused'.
I had new X-rays, CT and Mri scans done and returned for the results in November 2018 and have had the same reply that the fusion looks ok and had the suggestion that removing the Hardware may or may not help relieve pain, this would be a major operation chipping away at the overgrown bone etc. It was also suggested more exercise would help and that 'pain doesn't matter'.
I wasn't overjoyed with the reassessment so have got copies of the scans to reassess it myself.
This video shows my findings of which I shall take with me when returning to Kings College to see if they agree with them. It may very well be 'fused' but if the L4 lumbar block is cracked apart (VCF Vertebral Compression Fracture) I presume the fusion is not solid as suggested and probably the cause of the considerable pain which has also resulted in leaving employment.
Update Dec 2018:
Contacted Kings PALS and got the reply that the fusion is solid so have nothing to worry about, no mention about the fractures in L4 oddly so will have to wait until Feb 2019 when I can bring it up in person.
As a side note, the scans prior to the operation show no fractures apart from the front edge fracture so I can presume they occurred during or post op. maybe due to unseen weaknesses within.
